Horde Sandbox – 2019 WIP

In 2019 I got into unreal mapping quite a bit. It started with being obsessed with Mordhau, a medieval combat game where you can fight other players and such. There was a particular gamemode I really enjoyed called “Horde”. In Horde, there’s 21 rounds of enemies that will run around the map and try to wipe your team of 6 out. Your job is to kill them all and survive the horde.

After playing a lot of this mode, I really wanted to make my own custom map for it. The problem was (and still is as of this post) that there’s no actual official SDK or map editor. The Mordhau community thankfully was able to figure that out and actually made an unofficial SDK using unreal 4 and the assets from the game. So using this unofficial SDK, I was able to make a couple of maps.

The first map was based on the idea of an EXP grinder. I actually already had some experience with this as I messed around with Unreal 3 map editing with a Killing floor 2 EXP grinder back in the day (https://www.reddit.com/r/killingfloor/comments/3481lt/release_of_kftimbosperktrainingv4/). It actually led to the developer of KF2 to remove experience gain from custom maps, my bad!
